Matt Guidera Wins Again!
Matt Guidera and the Mohegan Sun/Rocklin Motorsports S&S-powered Buell rode an impressive opening-season performance to a win and the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle points lead at the AC Delco Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla.

Guidera and the Mohegan Sun team proved that they are ready for the big time, qualifying on the pole, setting low elapsed time of every round of eliminations and out-performing 3-time POWERade champ Andrew Hines in the final. This is the second NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle win for Guidera, his first coming at the 2007 Reading, Pa., event where he beat another three-time champ, Angelle Sampey.

“This is how you plan it out in your mind,” said Guidera. “We spent the whole off season preparing the bike, preparing the team, and preparing me for a solid opening performance at the Gators and it really paid off for us. The Sun Gods of Gainesville Florida were definitely shining down on me this past weekend. What a great feeling to start the season off number one in the points, earn my first pole, and win my second Wally. Man, what else could a guy ask for? The guys at ACDelco can really put a show on for the NHRA fans and I can’t wait to get to the O’Reilly Spring Nationals in Houston next week.”

Team owner Vic Guidera could not be happier. “The whole team was full of so much emotion and team spirit this past weekend,” he said. "Rick Maney, our co-crew chief, was down for the count with a very bad flu bug but still came out and did what he had to do when it counted most. My son Lenny who is the other Crew Chief really impressed the hell out of me this past weekend. He stepped up and took up the slack and performed flawlessly. It’s a great feeling to have two highly knowledgeable and dedicated crew chiefs in our pits working on the bike together. This team is working together fantastically.”

“What can I say about Matt,” continued Vic. “I really feel that he’s one of the top riders in the world and he proved it this past weekend. We as a family are all so proud to be a part of this team. We have such a great support system in place, from the engine builder Steve Seruset back at our Rocklin shop, to the sponsors like Mohegan Sun and our other sponsors, to everyone that works on the team. When you have good people behind you and you work hard, good things happen, which is exactly what happened at the Gators.”

"The guys are so pumped up and ready to hit the track again next weekend at the O’Reilly Spring Nationals in Houston," said Mohegan Sun/Rocklin Motorsports team manager Brian Bozsum. “We’ve all worked very hard during the off-season so it was really nice to hit the track and see all of our efforts pay off. I can’t ever recall being this excited during the start of a season like I am this year. At this point we really feel like we can be a top team all year.”

“We hope to take the momentum gained from Gainesville this past weekend into the remainder of the 2008 season,” Bozsum continued. “We intend to make a serious effort at winning our first championship this year.”

Matt Guidera wins first Wally
Hollywood couldn’t have written a better script in the world of Pro Stock Motorcycle. The NHRA has created another intense year of drag racing with the new Countdown to the Championship. “I’m in the business of Sports Marketing and Promotions and I couldn’t even have written a script that turned out like the Toyo Tires Nationals this past week," said Brian Bozsum, co-owner of the Mohegan Sun team. "To win our first Wally during such an intense race week is beyond my imagination." "Reading was probably the biggest race of the year for the many teams still trying to get into the Countdown," co-owner Jessey Fenton added. "The drama and tension for our team waiting around in until Wednesday to race was the most intense feeling I’ve felt since coming into the NHRA. “Our crew chief Rick Maney has been the core of much of our engine building success which took place earlier this year and during the transition into the Guidera Racing family. For the Reading race we decided to run our No. 12 motor, which has been a very solid performer this year, and it definitely showed up."

“The knowledge and resources that Rick Maney and my son Len Guidera bring to the table have been essential to our current success," Vic Guidera said. "These two boys are going to be unstoppable. My other son Matt has been riding the bike like he was in contention for the Countdown. I’m so happy for him as a rider and as my son that he’s gotten his first win in the Pro ranks. I’m very proud of all of them for the hard work they have done to get us to this point."

"Matt 'Kipsho' (which means 'go fast' in Mohegan) Guidera's riding ability this past week was nothing less than perfection," crew chief Rick Maney said. "Matt broke his own e.t. record five times this past week along with razor-sharp reaction times in the final rounds, just unbelievable. Having a rider like Matt on a bike that can be tuned like it was this past week is truly a great feeling.

"Vic, Matt and Len Guidera are such a great combination of guys to work with that it’s a no-brainer that it can only produce good things to come, which was evident this past week. When you make it to the winners circle after a long week like this past week has been, it’s a very rewarding feeling."

Home is where the heart is for Guidera at Infineon Raceway
Matt Guidera, rider of the Mohegan Sun/Rocklin Motorsports Buell, is looking forward to the nice short ride thru the beautiful wine country in Sonoma, Calif., this weekend for the Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals at Infineon Raceway."Infineon is my home track, which makes me want to perform the best that I can and win another Wally for the local fans," said Guidera. Guidera has won a national event, the Gainesville Gator Nationals, so far this season and is currently sixth in the Pro Stock Motorcycle point standings.

“We're back in California, and I'm excited to be so close to home. We'll have lots of friends and family joining us this weekend at an awesome drag racing facility. This is by far a special race for me personally due to the close proximity. Like they say, “Home is where the heart is” and this is definitely where my heart is. Let’s put it this way, I would love to race here a few times a year.“Our Harley Davidson dealerships are less than two hours away and we have many pre-race events planned this week to promote the race team, the NHRA, and the Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals at Infineon Raceway”.“The whole team is based out of Northern California so you can just imagine the amount of interest we have when we race so close to home. It'll be hectic, but it’s very rewarding to have such a great gathering of people come out and support us," said Mohegan Sun/Rocklin Motorsports team manager Brian Bozsum.“We’ve also made some changes to the team dynamics during the past couple of races. Matt and his brother Len have taken over the tuning calls and Rick Maney and Vic Guidera have taken over the chassis and bike duties.

“Matt wanted to be more involved in making the tune-up calls so he could get a better understanding of how everything works. Matt and Len have been making some great calls and so far the changes have worked out great for the team. We’ve had some of the best 60 foot times and first half numbers the past two races. I predict this weekend you’re going to see us have some great back half numbers to complete the package.”
